IDC 206: Mathematical methods.

Course outline : The course will mainly focus on Differential equations and related topics such as Fourier series, Fourier and Laplace transforms. The suggested textbook is Differential equations with applications and historical notes by George F. Simmons (second edition, publisher Tata McGraw Hill).
Evaluation for this course: Quiz 30 %, Mid-semester exam 30 %, Final exam 40%.

Quiz: Sep. 4, 10 - 11:30 AM
Mid-sem Exam: Oct. 9, 2 - 3:30 PM
Final Exam: Nov. 29, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
There will be assignments announced on the course website as well as in class. Assignments need not be submitted. Some questions from the assignments will appear in all the exams. Solutions will not be provided for assignments. You can come and discuss how to solve assignment questions with me by prior appointment or when I am free. You are expected to have tried out solving the question before asking me. Please come prepared to explain to me how you have tried solving the problem. These assignments are meant to be attempted as the course proceeds, and NOT only on the day before the exam.
