MothSph_Theretra_clotho_0_PA010820.jpg | http://tpittaway.tripod.com (Sphingidae of the Eastern Palaearctic) |
Identification:
Postmedial not dotted, but continuous. Very
similar to T. tibetiana (apparently), having been a cryptic twin. As it happens
Arunachal is in the zone of overlap. According to SOTEP the underside of the
forewing separates the two but for some reason there are no images of the
underside of T. clotho on the web. It is possible that both T. clotho and T.
tibetiana are in the image collection under this species. Some of the
variations seen in the images are: (i) Area between post-medial line and dorsum
same colour as (or darker than) the line and the costum. The darker variety
looks similar to T. indistincta in DMOA. (ii) Wings and body brightish green
(or brownish-green to brown). (iii) None to 3 parallel lines between the
post-medial line and costum. (iv) Post-medial line diffuse and broad (or thin).
