MothSph_Rhagastis_noid_F1_0_SE0210.jpg | http://tpittaway.tripod.com (Sphingidae of the Eastern Palaearctic) |
Identification:
Discal markings of R. castor including the pale patches. R.
lunata is also similar but has additional diffuse broken lines within the
discal series of spots. Diffuse bars along the margin, like in R. confusa but
without the whitish costal edge; further, in noid1 (3 images) these bars are a
little shifted from the edge, like in R. lunata and not hugging the edge like
in R. castor. In noid2 these bars are close at the edge; in noid3 the margin
does not have a line of connected bars but does seem to have a more diffuse
stripe. Are any or all of these R. hayesi?
